Andalusia ended up in a 11-11 tie with Polk Co., Tenn., on Friday at the 2013 Pounder Invitational Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Bulldogs’ game against PCHS was called because the time limit of two hours had elapsed.

“It’s just a part of it,” AHS coach Jonathan Rasberry said about the game.

Rasberry said his team should’ve won the ball game, and a crucial overturned call by the home plate umpire made the difference.

“We had a tag-up play when it was 9-8, and the guy wasn’t even close tagging up from the outfield catch,” he said. “The home plate umpire overruled the out.

Despite the tie, Andalusia tallied 16 hits. The Bulldogs also left 17 runners on base.

Grayson Campbell went 3-for-3 and made it on base five times, despite getting hit by a pitch two times; Zach Ward went 3-for-4; Quinton Maddox and Brandon Smith went 2-for-4 each; and Hunter Earnest had two hits.

The Bulldogs had four pitchers — Maddox, Brayden Burkhardt, Earnest and Campbell — on the mound.

AHS (17-6-1) will play Cleveland, Tenn., at 10 a.m.; and Hixon, Tenn., at noon today to wrap up the invitational.
